Promote the flow of liquid between plates to form turbulence. The flow channel of the "herringbone" small patterned plate is composed of two adjacent plates with a 180 degree difference in herringbone angle, allowing the metal plate to adapt to different pressures. There are many fixed corner points between the plates, which can reach one point per 130mm2. The flow channel is not easily deformed, has high pressure resistance, and can withstand strong pressure differentials. The space occupied by plate heat exchangers is currently one of the smaller types of heat exchangers. Under the same heat exchange conditions, plate heat exchangers only occupy 1/3 to 1/4 of the space occupied by shell and tube heat exchangers, and do not require additional maintenance space when disassembled.
Due to the fact that the medium flowing in the plate group can form turbulence at lower Reynolds numbers (Re), and the smooth plates are less prone to fouling, they have a very high heat transfer efficiency. In general water to water heat exchange, the heat transfer coefficient of plate heat exchangers can reach 6000w/m2-C or more, which is 3-8 times higher than that of shell and tube heat exchangers.
Due to its high heat transfer coefficient, excellent flow ratio characteristics, and completely reverse flow, the heat transfer temperature difference can be selected very low, making it very suitable for the recovery of low energy heat. It is economically feasible to achieve a heat recovery rate of over 90% using a single plate heat exchanger.
